If an Australian is considering moving to the United States what cities would you recommend?
If you are an interior designer ... I like the idea of LA, NYC, Boston, San Fransisco and chicago ... which is best to get the design work?
Begin in San Francisco. Then if you do not want there, you can go to Portland, Oregon, to Seattle or Washington, both beautiful cities with lots of arts and culture lovers, fine restaurants and many attractions such as Museums and large fauna, beach close by, nothing quite like Oregon and Washington coast.Los Angeles are yucky! The beach is ugly and polluted, and people in other, more self-center life style than in San Francisco. I've moved away from the north-western U.S. to return to my hometown, but Northwest U.S. I would take over Chicago. Chicago winters are cold, hard, windy, and looooong! Northwest California is great because if you live near coast, winter is mild. If you like the snow, you can drive inland and be skiing in 6hrs or less. NYC is always tops for arts, culture and people love it. They have the most diverse group of people in all sorts of interesting historical places to go see. Winters can be brutal, and summer is hot and humid, but for an interior designer with fresh new ideas, NYC is the place to be! If you have more outdoor activities and mild weather, go to San Francisco. I do not know what the job market is like, but a personal "you gotta live it" level, there's my advice.
